I assume you are referring to the HKS Kansai Carbon Fiber air induction box?

Yes and No :P

I am using it now with my HKS Racing Suction kit.

Was using an AEM Short Ram but the cone and piping didn't fit inside the HKS Kansai box.

The HKS Kansai airbox and the HKS Racing Suction on the other hand are made for each other.

And now for the bad news: The Kansai box was originally designed for the EvoVII and when placed in the VIII, one of the screws securing the cooling vents on the bonnet does scratch the surface of the CF box and over time, would puncture the box.

You could file the screw down but then over time, the cooling vents pressing down would still leave a mark on the CF airbox.

In the end I swapped out the stock bonnet with a modified Varis CF bonnet. :P

Does it diminish the sound of the intake?

If you mean does it sound less like an aircraft taking off? The answer is YES.

Do you have any pics of the airbox installed (with the scratches)?

You do realize it is still noisy right? :P Don't think you can completely remove the whooosh sounds and the pseudo BOV sound when you go off throttle...
