Now how did that pop off??? theres a hole in my engine block!!!

So i was driving the other night and heard a popping noise and something dropped from under my car as i was on the highway....

1st i thought it was my headgasket b/c i saw a ****load of smoke behind me... stoped the car and shut it off... me and my friend paul look under the hood and all you smelt was coolant everywhere and a river was just flowing to the floor...

drove the car home taking breaks here and there to let the car cool
the next day my friend henry came over and looked at my car and showed me what was the problem(sucks not having tools anymore) and shows me
a golf ball size hole on my block on the passenger side right above the alternator.. we go look at henry's evo and look at the same spot on his motor and see that theres nothing there but a metal plug... he than checks the service manual when he gets home and tells me that it might be my water pump...

anyone got any other ideas what this might be??

Freeze plug? thats what that thing was? so can anyone confirm this?
its a circle metal plug on the block right above the alternator.... coolant just flows right out when i try to refill the radiator

Does it look like this. Or one of the four circle things on each cylinder.

Ok, I see where it is. There should be a plug (metal plug) right there but it blew off. You need to get that sealed again or goto dealership.

Woah, I've never heard of that happening before unless the block froze.. Thats why their called freeze out plugs...

Your car should still be mostly stock right? Definitely get the dealer to take care of it.. Its unlikely you did any damage, but you want to be certain that there isn't a blockage somewhere that built up pressure in the water jacket and forced it out....

Definitely a warranty item though, and they can't deny you on something like this, this just doesn't "Normally happen" and it almost never happens as a result of abuse.. so don't sweat bringing it in.
