Right before the throttle body. That's why I mentioned about the efficiency of the intercooler.

Move your boost controller closer to the water spray bottle, so you don't have to take off the air duct.

The solenoid is actually right next to the water sprayer bottle. But the other night I was checking the size and location of my vac lines because I think the shop that installed the EBC used small vac line. This weekend I plan on replacing the Vac line with something that has a bigger internal diameter. I will live with it off for a while, I'm not sure how much it really helps anyway... I don't notice a thing.

Back to the topic, I really don't think the scoop is making any difference with open element filter.
I have to agree, at idle the temps get quite hot, in fact hot enough that it alters my closed loop fuel mixture at times.. But when I'm moving, it makes absolutely no difference in temps with the scoop in place or not..

If the box were totally enclosed I can see it being somewhat helpful...

In the end, I don't think open element air filters are a worthwhile upgrade from the stock airbox.. Your much better off leaving the stock airbox with a panel filter in place..

FWIW I can measure IAT's easily now that I have an AIT sensor right in the intake tube and no MAF sensor before the turbo.

What I did notice is when the fan kicks in and blows more hot air into the engine bay, the intake air temps climb 15 degrees or more with the open filter.

On an interesting side note, after the intercooler I have a thermocouple mounted, and there was only a 5 degree temp difference with a fresh air source or an under hood source.. the better and cooler the source is obviously worthwhile, but unless you have an airbox getting air exclusively from outside the engine bay, it didn't seem to make much if any difference.
