I use 5 & 1/3 quarts of Mobil 1, with a K&N Gold Performance oil filter. You can pick up 6 quarts (a case) of 10W-30 synthetic Mobil 1 for about 22-23$ at Costco, and the filter can be had for 11-13$ from most autoparts stores, though it may have to be ordered in (at least in my area it does).

Mobil 1 oil filters seem to get good "reviews", but I haven't been able to find them.

You may want to go with the Mitsubishi filter, since it is recommended that you change the crush washer on the drain plug when when you do an oil change. You can pick both parts up at the same time. It also gives Mitsubishi one less reason to void your warranty.

Personally I use the Mitsu filter. You cant go wrong with what the factory uses.
As far as oil. I use 10w-30 year around with no problems. I get it for a good price at the local wal-mart.
On a side note, 5 1/3 quarts seems like a bit much. I think the owners manual calls for 4.8 qts. including the filter. Mine usually sits on the top line with this amount. If you over fill its bad for the seals and can cause the oil froth up, which is not a good thing.

MZ690116 is the OEM part number. There's another number floating out there too.

Check out these 2 places if you want to mail order them

First : http://www.mitsubishiparts.net/cart/...x=9&submit.y=2

and

Second: http://www.mitsupartsdirect.com

This second one is usually cheaper and have an "Evo" club. Customer service is instant there too during business hours. The first one usually calls back in a day or two. Make sure to order crush washers or the plug will drip.

I get Mobil one at Costco for $24 a case.

go with the mitsu filter, and, myself and my friends have nothing but high remarks for Royal Purple oil..... quiets the ticking, gets noticeable mpg increase, runs a notch cooler, after your first full use of it the following changes have cleaner oil, and supposed to add power (5hp isn't really noticeable though, so, can't validate that one...) running 10w-30 now, and i'm in the same freaking cold state of emergency no power-no cable type weather just opposite ends of PA... not a single issue...

best of all... it's actually purple in color...

mobil 1 and a mitsu filter. get the filter from the dealer with the crush washer for $7. it is what the manual recommends, and i am not looking for another reason for mitsu to want to void the crappy existing warranty.

German Castrol 0w-30 and a WIX 57092 filter. I've read alot of good things about the GC and alot of guys at another "oil" forum seem to really like it. You can get GC at AutoZone, look on the back of the bottle and make sure it says "Made in Germany" below the UPC.

If you buy a mitsu oil filter, they'll sell you a crush washer too. You can buy 5qt Mobil 1 jug at Walmart for $18-22 bucks. It usually takes a little more than 4 quarts for me.
