Help Me Choose Best Exhaust Setup

Hey, I have a 05 GSR evo stock. I would like to get a smog legal (no cat delete) exhaust, high flow cat setup that sounds really nice. even if gains are a little. fitment is the most important.

thank you
please give me some recomendations.

Umm.. a test pipe is the same as a cat delete.

Ummm...while this is just my opinion, I think to some small degree this is true, but there are several other issues to consider. Weight is one, there are a couple of full Ti exhausts out there that save a considerable amount of weight. Fittment is an extremely important issue as I've read many threads on this site where people have major problems with that. I personally went with the HKS HiPower exhaust because I liked the clearence it gave at the oil pan. There is also the flex connection in the down pipe. Some ppl. like them some don't. The angle at which the muffler intersects the rear valance is another consideration (bumper protectors or not?). I'm sure there are other issues as well.

Seeing as performance isnt a massive issue for you, why not just go with a nice catback like the greddy titanium or the HKS Ti for the sound?

Yeah, test pipe is a cat-delete...lol, but I love my Injen...though it comes with a catdel pipe so you'd have to buy a high-flow cat for it too, or something...the Vishnu and HKS sound cool in my opinion as well...what sort of sound are you looking for? Closer to the Honda end of the spectrum or Mustang end of the spectrum? I did research on exhausts for like 4 months before I got mine...but I'm no exhaust scientist

If your're keeping the stock cat, a 3" dp won't do much for you except bang off the lower tie bar. Get a good 2.5" dp and reputable cat back with a 2.5" flange opening up to 3" after the cat. If you ditch the stock cat go for a high flow, go 3" all the way (dp.> hf cat> cat back) for the most hp.

Search... some fit better/ worse than others and there's about a million exhaust threads.

I ordered a 3" Helix downpipe and a 3" UR test pipe yesterday. Will be ordering a Helix 3" Catback in a week or so. Helixs make some next products.
