evo/// motor
evo/// motor
Hey anyone put an evo/// motor in a second gen talon/eclipse... I got the motor in my car but i havent started it due to lack of knowledge on the swap.. I cant find any info on this anywhere. Anyone who can help me out I would appreciate it.. the motor bolted in just fine but i know i am going to have problems with the ecu and stuff, so I am just trying to get a heads up before i get it all back together.. The int. man is different with the vaccum lines and egr but i just got rid of egr and i know the vaccum lines i can just block off too. Any info could help. I also got parts from my 2nd gen motor for sale if anyone is interested my email is rdgouter@msn.com.. Thanks to anyone who can help
you should just use the stock 1g intake manifold as you will not be able to activate the butterfly valves in the cyclone intake. other then that its a pretty easy swap. you need to do a little custom wiring. you need to use a 2g started plate with the 2g tranny. you need to wire the 1g cam angle sensor to the 2g crank and cam angle sensor harness. magnus had a write up on it but they must have deleted it from their site. you'll prob need a 10k potentiometer also to elimate the car from looking for mis fires and going into limp mode. the potentiometer puts resistance in the line for where the ecu reads barometric pressure. register for dsmtuners.com and you'll prob be able to find all the info you need there. good luck
Hey thanks man... I actually drilled a hole in the cam on the evo head to put the 2g cas on.. that worked pretty well. the manifold that i have doesnt have the cyclone name on it. I think the cyclone man. is only the 220 hp version with the 450cc injectors. mine has the 510 injectors with a bigger manifold. I actually didnt know anything about the potentiometer though. thanks for that info.. i know quite a bit about this but i think this swap is a little more difficult than a 1g in 2g swap.. I got really lucky with getting this motor and i believe it has 270hp stock. i read the write ups on rre and magnus but they both say nothing about the actual evo swap. Mack V says that the motor is really hard to get and they havent seen the swap yet. I know the site is old and thats not true anymore but finding info online for that particular motor is very difficult. Also do you know where to get a good deal on the potentiometer? Thanks man i appreciate the help
