Just like the title says. What is better, a manual or electronic boost controller? which company is best? Why?

A good EBC hands down! After replacing my MBC with an EBC I will never go back!

I have the TurboSmart Electronic Boost Controller/Gauge Worth the money to me. So easily confingured and super easy to adjust with a press of a button or two...but still features "lock" so no accidental button pushing happens

Please don't spread false information. Does this mean that every piece of electronic equippement in the EVO will also have problems

These "Polls" really frustrate me! The poll should ask "If you have owned and operated both a properly installed and tuned EBC and MBC please respond to which one you had the best results with and why". Than and only then can we get any real feedback.

I too am in need of a boost controller...

Manual boost controllers are cheap, install easily and are effective but you'll still need to have a boost guage... and mounting a boost guage can sometimes be tricky. especially if you're trying to keep the interrior as clean as possible. most electronic boost controllers are quality items, such as the apex-i AVCr. and greddy makes a good one as well. plus as far as i know all EBC units have a boost guage built into them (sorry if i sound like a 3rd grade teacher) but mounting an EBC could pose more of a problem needing t cut holes or spaces to run wires... if it were me, i'd do an electronic unit. for around 400-500 bucks, you can get yourself a Very high quality unit. in my old 94 H22a prelude i had an Apex-i VAFC and i loved that lil baddie soooooo much. how i could tune it for street use and for track/Nos use was the most important piece of hardware i ever added to that car... oh how i miss it.. so that leads me towards the AVCr unit by Apex-i... plus the blue vaccume display was like a cold beer in August. i'd mount it in the pocket under the heater controlls with the mounting plate it comes with. ahh. now im dreaming of having one! lol!

but to clarify your question about electronic or manual?

some electronic units you can adjust the boost ON THE FLY! at stop signs, red lights.. yadda yadda.. manual units you'll be doin chineese fire drills at every stop...

so electronic is my recomendation. as far as best brand... personal preferance is the beef there. some go with brand "X" and others brand "Y"... i found blitz and apex-i EBCs to offer the highest performance qualities. again, my opinion. but blitz items are a pain to install unless you can understand japanese hiragana and katakana instructions...

hope this helps. good luck!

I was confused as well when I was shopping for a boost controller. From reading many threads its really comes down to how much you are willing to spend and what you want. There have been reports of people having problems with both ebc and mbc devices. So if you have the money to spend then I would suggest getting a ebc because of its functions and looks. If you dont want to sepnd the money just get a mbc. I ended up getting the Blitz SBC ID 3
