Thought Dave Coleman's old piece might be a worthwhile read for many...

I did back in 2003. HP numbers were the same but the a/f ratio was a lot richer in 4th then 3rd.

Interesting. Would love to hear some others' experiences. My hunch is that in some instances 4th gear would net more power shown.

Wow...could that be due to heatsoak? Did you do the fourth gear runs before or after the third gear ones?

Fourth gear was first then one heat soaked third gear pull followed by a cool down and then two third gear pulls that were identical(248hp) to within a tenth of a point.

from my experience nomatter what gear u do your pull u will get the same numbers, the curve will look like a lil bit different that s all. At least this is true with dyno dynamics dyno.

Were your numbers corrected or uncorrected? Just curious.

I dyno in 3rd gear in the EVO's. It does make a difference in power/torque and spool up for sure. The pulls are over quicker, that's the biggest reason I do them in 3rd. It just takes less time and is less abusive on the car. With 335 dyno pulls on the RS I am doing all I can to keep from doing a rebuild before I hit 3,000 miles! haha
