BR Muffler hanger problem anyone?

I thought the piece was made of stainless steel but looked like it rusted. ANyone else have this problem and will it be okay for me to drive it like that. I need to take it to the muffler shop to see if they can weld it.

Clearly that is not a stock hangar. You should go back to whoever did your exhaust and have them fix it for free.

Well, for one thing, the hanger has nothing to absorb the impact when the car goes over a bump or when ever the exhaust shakes. It’s a ridged mount that does not give to movement. You need a rubber bushing there to absorb the impact of the exhaust moving. That’s why mitsu ships the rubber bushings stock.

It's a BR 3"turboback exhaust. Install was done at home. I guess I should be calling BR

With the exhaust like it can shake quite easy and I'm afraid it could be hitting something or warp my downpipe. Could this be possible?

You could damage things further up the exhaust system like damage other hangers, gaskets, etc. The turbo should be fine so long as you have the stock header and 02 housing in place.

I would just get it fixed ASAP.

That looks like an old BR exhaust. He's revised his rear hanger to prevent that. I'd definately give him a ring.

Wow, how in the world did that solid stainless steel bar snap perfectly in two like that?! There is no rubber mount on the car, why did you take the rubber hanger out? It is suppose to be mounted to rubber.

Send the pipe back in and I will replace the hanger for free, you have to install the rubber hangers on the car though.

I was wondering the same thing . I didn't notice it until I went under to check my rear differential fluid. I'm the second ower so I have no clue as to why the rubber was remove. My guess was that it was hard to fit so the person who install it was lazy.

Thanks for the offer but I hate to take out the entire long pipe and send it in for a hanger issue. I think it'll be less of a hasssle to see if a muffler shop can weld the two pieces together or fix it. If I do end up at BR on 2/24 or 2/25 you'll surely see it in person

In looking at this picture further. It looks like something has corroded that. Look at the aluminum subframe, sway bar and hanger. I'd almost be willing to bet something was driven over. Perhaps battery acid or some other acidic substance.

???

Notice the name "stainless" steel. It stains less. It's not stain free. Stainless steel still rusts depending on what kind it is and how much time.
