Lightbulb freebie mod, that is if you have the time to do it

if everyone doesnt already know, the jap spec evo's run more boost. but to get the evo in the states mitsu had to reduce emissions. one thing they did to do this was to change the intake manifold to block gasket. it is smaller, much smaller that it should be. if you evo is down for some lengthy repairs, i would suggest removing the intake manifold and either: a) get a jap spec gasket, or, b) gasket match it. you will feel the diff in that mod. and it is free, we all love free

i would still gasket match it and since you are there a mild port and polish. and the factory one doesnt have as much material on it, it looks kinda flimsy and weak

Total BS. The US OEM gasket has larger holes than both the OEM US head and OEM US intake manifold. I took a good look at all of this before I sent my head out to be ported.

Of course once my radically ported head (thanks Mark at Quantum Racing) came back I needed to have both my intake manifold and gasked re-worked to match the port work done on the head. I pick up the parts today and should have the head back in this weekend. Now all I'm waiting on is the new 10.5 cm turbine housing for the turbo.

I work for a mitsu dealership and the tech school warned the techs to look out for a mod along these lines. something to do with boring something out to match.

LOL, an intake manifold to block gasket? If your 4G63 has the manifold attached to the block, you will need more than freebie mods to get it running....

The only gasket i know is the one Curt Brown has on his car so that the manifold doesnt heat up as quick or better yet heat doesnt transfer to the intake manifold like normal.
