WTF Am I surging?!?!

What tha hell is going on, my car is surging and i have no clue why, thinking it might be BOV, but not sure on how to even resolve this problem. Ok I have a AEM intake pipe with the HKS Suction filter. I have the MAS connected, boost controller, everything hooked up properly. I also have a HKS SSQ BOV running VTA. Well when i rev it up under the hood, i hear fluttering everytime coming from the intake filter which is basically coming from the turbo. it sounds to me like compressor surge. How would i fix this. My BOV seems fine to me, its a evo-spec HKS SSQ BOV too. When i rev it in idle, it surges then wants to die out badly, sometimes it does die out then jumps up and turns back on. This is annoying tha HELL outta me. HELP

i had the same problem with my forge. If the HKS is adjustable, try and put a softer spring in the BOV. When i installed the forge i just chose the stiffest spring, and it fluttered and surged when getting on and off the gas, sometimes stalling. I installed the second stiffest spring in the spring tuning kit and it's fine now, no more stalling and minimal surging. I say minimal here because i believe it is due to the way the evo's turbo system is set up along with VTA. However, it is muuuch smoother than it was.

good luck

the HKS only adjustable with the adjustment knob, i played with it a bit, didnt change it except it wanted to die more and still surges. Is ur forge VTA? Could this just be a VTA problem? HELP! BTW: HKS SSQ+recirc=SILENCE. The HKS recirc is absolutely silent, i cant hear crap when i shift. Thumbs down on that. I like the HKS whistle.

Standard VTA problem.

They put a stiff spring in VTA BOV's so you can run them in a car that has a Mass Airflow Sensor, and this results in compressor surge. If you adjust it to get ride of the compressor surge then it opens up..... and causes stalling!

The BOV is the problem.. The car will never idle perfect unless it is routed back to the intake... unless you are not running a standalone then you should not be venting (at least my opinion) bedcause you'll get a crappy idle, possible surge, and run mega rich between shifts.. if you are just concerned about the sound then there's ways around that.. try a different valve recirculating.. attach a small piece of metal in the dump tube connected the valve to the intake etc. etc.... there's always ways around it.. but if you really want it vented.. then your going to have to deal with the idle
