ordered hks ssq ver.2 HELP
ordered hks ssq ver.2 HELP
I ordered HKS SSQ w/ upper IC pipe. along with the recirculation kit.
It should be coming in today or tommorrow.
I just heard the recirculation kit won't fit on the version 2 HKS.
I have done searches, and saw one guy on the forum was doing great with the HKS SSQ vented to atmosphere because he took out his battery when he installed it. I'm just wondering is it possible at all to recirculate the HKS ver. 2
Other possibilties I do have a S AFC, is it possible to V-t-A my BOV if I have no other choice by tuning the S AFC to accept it. One thing for sure is I'm not going to return the BOV, no time for the hassle. I don't want to buy the HKS EIDS either.
ANYONE WHO HAS THIS BOV w/ IC pipe can please tell me how they are running it would be great!
I wish lancershop.com wouldve told me before i bought both of them together... you know I ordered the s afc plug and play harness from them and it wasn't even PLUG and PLAY and still had to soder the wires for the S AFC into it, I called them up they said noone makes one yet.. 2 days later I see the ACTUAL s afc plug and play harness on there site.
I also bought carbon fiber dual guage pillars that is suppose to fit 52" guages and it was wayyy too small I had file the pillars for like an HOUR trying not to dmg the carbon fiber. I swear I'm having bad luck on purchases.

The recirc kit fits, but does you no good. The hose thats included is designed to recirc an SSQV in the stock location. I tried recirc with a longer hose, when you vent the delay the longer hose causes results in surge if your shifting fast.
Ex.
Full accel, let of gas, Bov vents, shift, depress accel, sudden jerk on acceleration. It is not a driveable condition.
You don't have to take out the battery, I just put a lightweight battery kit in. You will need an EIDS to run reliably. I didn't stall at every light without it, but I stalled enough to make me keep my foot on the gas when ever I slowed down. AKA, I started left foot braking so car would run. (and it would still sputter and try to die sometimes)
There is a feature in the SAFC that supposedly corrects the issue but does not seem to work.
The car ran well under Wide Open throttle conditions, the sound is amazing. Your daily driver conditions are not as good. The flutter is annoying and I ran into an issue with the hose fitment between the HKS upper IC and the pipe going to the Intercooler. The HKS upper IC would disconnect at that junction. I bought a samco reducer and tbolts to resolve the issue. Tbolts alone did not fix the problem.
Installing the EIDS is easy if you have the SAFC installed, it uses the same splice points on your harness.
I loved the sound, but I went with APS to restore daily driveability.

If you sealed the BOV location on the HKS pipe and had another flange welded on closer to the stock location you could probably Recirc the version 2 it. If not, you can't.
Unless your just dying for the sound and you haven't installed it, I'd probably send it back and get the APS BOV. You still get VTA and none of the driveability issues.

its funny how I also have the same kit and bought the recirculation kit. Had no idea it didnt fit and the vendor didnt say anything about it at that time.
My car runs fine and have no stalling or idle issues. To be honest I couldnt tell the differnce after I installed it except for the fact that it flutters at certain rpms I think 3-5k rpm and the bov sound. Yes mine is vta and its fine. I have no flash or any tune what so ever and been running like this for like 4 months... lol I know im waiting for my standalone arriving next week.
There are some that have problems and some dont. The only way to find out is to install it. good luck. Oh BTW DO NOT TOUCH THE SCREW IN THE BACK. I remember HKS said not to touch it at all, I didnt and im lucky its running fine so dont touch it.

I had the hks ssqv and I had no problems VTA. I didnt care for the flutter sound it makes under low boost shifts. Also it was way to loud for me, so I sold it.

I had to adjust the screw, it was undriveable when I installed it. Terrible pain in the butt to get to run correctly.
I think the #1 and possibly only real selling point for this BOV is the sound. The next fast in the furious movie will probably have cars running three of these in parallel.

i just got the version 2 about 3 weeks ago, and as of right now im VTA. the idle is perfect, the only problems are if you let of the gas really quick at high RPMs, the car stumbles and almost stalls, but thats never really a problem, and the other thing is the IC pipe is popping off under full boost. I just bought some T-bolt clamps, so hopefully those will work. I haev an Xede, but it was tuned way before i got the BOV, and my idle is perfect.
Dude, don't worry you can still recirculate your bov, even with the ver.2
However u can't use the recirc kit that u bought. You just gotta go to like autozone or pepboys or something, and get a really long version of that hose they give u in the recirc kit. Get atleast a foot of that hose, and then try to recirc it. It's definatley possible, i seen it done. You just gotta do a little more work to recirculate it.

You can, but you'll have to pause between shifts so the dump isn't hitting the turbo late. You get a head jerking surge and a shudder with a rich/lean/rich/lean reaction if your shifting fast with that longer recirc tube. (mainly from second to third under hard acceleration) I went back to VTA within hours because of it.
Thanks for all the information, It really helped.
I'm going to try to leave it without recirculating to see how it does.
If it doesnt work out I will buy the long hose temporarily and then later on I'll end up buying the HKS EIDS.
Its not right vendors are not specific about their products sometimes and I buy things I can't use with the product its suppose to go with.
When I ordered The HKS version 2 it recommended me the recirulation kit even tells me in a tech note I may need to use it.

i dont think any vendor's post that on their website, i guess they figure most people would do the research before buying a product (not flaming u in any way).
HONESTLY, running VTA is not that bad.. some people j/make a big deal out of it.. once u drive VTA for a few days, u'll figure out how to avoid stalling when it wants to stall..
