Question FMIC upgrades

after searching for "FMIC" in the advanced search, and "Intercooler" i really cant find what i need...

2 nights ago i ranover some road debris... and it was big and hard enough to crack apart my splash tray, bend my 2 stabalizer bars, and put a big f---'n dent in my intercooler. i already made a claim to insurance to have these things fixed and repaired. i know the intercooler will have to be replaced. factory the intercooler cost 721.53... alot. but i have seen other aftermarket intercoolers out there for roughly less and roughly more.

at this point all of you know what im thinking... dont go stock. get aftermarket. but who makes a good intercooler for that price? i want one where i wont need to cut or trim the splash gaurd. im never going to upgrade the turbo itself, so, getting a intercooler that covers the entire front of the car (headlights included) wont be necessary.

im thinkin TurboXS, maybe Buscher or even Perrin... ive heared from friends with eclipses and turbo hondas that Greddy and HKS actually have good units.

so this is where im stuck. what intercooler would be best for 721.53 or less and not be overkill?

jack

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your car. That sucks!

I have heard you will have to cut or remove the undertray to fit the TurboXS intercooler. You may want to get a Buschur. It seems that one is a perfect fit, and it's right around the $700 that the stock IC will cost you new.

I have been really interested in the buschur standard ic setup. Supposedly no cutting or trimming at all and works with stock piping.

I'd go for the Buschur, David Buschur puts so much R and D into all his products and this is just another example of engineering excellence. Secondly, the intercooler piping that comes along with the kit is outstanding just go read the description and stuff. Its 750 though I'd look into it. I've heard good things about the turboXS and yes you will have to trim the tray on Either intercooler (or a heat gun). I'd go with Buschur though, If anything the customer service kicks ***.

Thumbs up Turbo XS

I just put the turboxs on my car. It is huge, and it is a direct fit, no cutting of anything. It works with stock piping, and is one of the cheapest I could find. $625.00 from JSC speed.

Buy a used stock intercooler. They don't pick up much power on the stock turbo anyway. Pocket the difference or put that money towards cams or something similar.

AMS man all the way. Supposely 20 to the wheels. Bolts to the stock I/C piping, but if i were you, go to ren art.com and get their I/C with the lower i/c pipe deal for like 900. Its worth it since the stock lower i/c pipe is tiny as hell, and replacing it would give you 7 to 10 horses besides the intercooler. Just my two cents.

?? I just installed the TurboXS FMIC and yes that thing is huge. It sits about 2-3 inches below where the stocker sat and trimming is needed. How did you manage not to trim yours?
