! Stock Boost Questions !

I am trying to see what other stock people are getting for results...

What kind of boost readings are you all getting in stock setup when flooring it?

Does the boost guage press to 19psi and hold or taper off?

Sometimes do you not hit 19psi at all when flooring it?

I'm trying to see how mine compares to others..
Any input is much appreciated.

It will vary depending on weather, gear, RPM you punch it at, etc. The ECU is programmed stock to hit 19 and taper to about 16 by redline. However, the turbo, the boost solenoid and the engine are all mechanical pieces and will vary their behavior.

Where do you have the boost gauge tapped too? I believe most people tap it to the line on the intake manifold on the passenger side. Also, do you have any tuning with that AEM intake? Intakes have been known to have adverse effects on the EVO without proper tuning, and that may be the reason you are seeing odd boost.

Yeah its tapped into the intake manifold..

I removed the AEM Intake to test and put it all back to stock except a Cone filter on the end..

Seemed to get a bit with that. Still basically the same though. Doesn't feel as punchy

I did a quick search, I guess nobody posted it, but there is a way you can test for a boost leak using a bicycle pump. Basically You need hand pump kind with the long rubber hose (sports authority) and some extra hose to make a t. Its not hard, it old DSM trick, I will see if i can find the write up for u!

Installed the intake, boost guage was already on it.

Ahhh...so the boost levels dropped after u put on the intake? Needs tunning then, because your MAS is probably compensating boost b/c of airflow differences now as opposed to your stock airbox
