ACT clutch installed, now noise?

I had an ACT HD street clutch installed about 400 miles ago. It feels great, but now the trans. is definately louder that before. I only notice it when i bring the engine up past 3500-4000rpms(in any gear) and let off the throttle. It's not a whining sound, just a loud mechanical rattling type of sound, and the car feels fine otherwise. Is this a normal aftermarket clutch sound or could it be something else?

it's fine.....aftermarket clutches make the drivetrain/tranny sounds louder. With my exedy, it had a separate paper that actually stated that drivetrain noise may increase with the install of this clutch

How much louder is your car? It's difficult to describe how loud mine is, but I guess you could say, for lack of a better example, it's louder than before the ACT was installed, but not "holy s**t whats wrong with this car" loud.

Also, could it be anything beside the lock ring that yesevo suggested that the mechanic may have messed up upon installation to cause excess noise? The guy that installed is fairly experienced on evo clutch replacements, mine was the 5th one he's done.

I have installed quite a few of the ACT clutches with zero issues of noise. The ACT clutch is as close to stock as you can get, so no extra noises should be there. Maybe there is an installation problem? check to make sure the fluid levels are good.

No noise with my ACT either. Best to get it checked out with the installer.
