Engine No start after flash...

Hello all..I recently parked my car and sent the ecu off to have it flashed for my cams. I never touched the car until my ecu got back, and even then all I did was plug the ecu in to pull the car into the shop. Unfortunately the car would not start, its just dumping fuel and flooding the engine out.

I have sent the ecu back and had it reflashed and checked over again, however the car still will not start. It was running fine when I parked it. I've checked all the charge pipes and everything, everything seems to be doing fine.

If you unplug the fuel pump after turning it over a few times with it plugged in, you can turn it over and get it to start for a second or two...I'm at a loss as to whats going on. Anyone have any input? TIA.

Did they send you the right ECU? A different ECU will not recognize the immobilizer chip in your ignition key.

Sounds like thats what happened ... you probably got someone else's ecu ... it can be fixed but you will have to get the dealer to program/reset it.

I'd rather not say for I don't want to start a vendor war. But I did find out that this has happnd before and that instance was from another vendor, so its not their faults. Its just a wierd error.

no, the immobilizer is not the issue. I marked my ecu before I shipped it off, and the one I got back is the same. I have gotten the car to fire and run for a split second, so that gets rid of the immobilizer idea.

I talked to a guy who has had a similar problem and he said mitsu checked his car with the mut3 and it was trying to run the car at 16k rpm full fuel. Sounds like my car is doing the same thing. Tis a wierd problem.

No, it is none of those things. Just like he said, the ECU is telling the injectors to dump fuel and the pump is no doubt running at its high setting, something is jacked up in the coding. If it does start, and assuming tha throttle body is open enough to feed it the air it needs, the revs would skyrocket. For some reason the injectors are at or near their full duty cycle.

the only people that can help u is either the poeple that did the flash, and or a mitsu dealer. Usually for an iECU to do stuff like that means something in the rom writting got messed up by a short circuit of some sort.

Man, I know what happened.... Your timing belt has jumped some teeth . I had the exact thing happen to me. Quit trying to start it or you'll burn the starter, kill the battery or worse yet, damage the valves. Take it to a good shop and have them reset the cam timing. You'll need a new tensioner. It's very bad to reuse the tensioner and it's very easy to damage it when they do the cams. Busted Solutions f*cked up the installation in my car and Andrew at Dyno4mance immediately diagnosed the problem (same as yours, the car quit starting all of the sudden) and he fixed it. If you need a new tensioner, I can sell you one I have for $100 plus shipping or you can get it from a dealer. I'm not interested in making a sale but I would like to help.....

I wonder as well.. if you are having a problem with it the car starts for only a few seconds and dies.

From what he is saying it doesnt sound like it jumped teeth either....he said that once he unplugs the fuel pump so it stops dumping fuel, it runs for a couple of seconds til all the fuel is out of the line...to me it just seems like its a bad flash...your fuel map at idle is all out of whack...my opinion, stop tryin to start the car, if u can find a local tuner to retune the car so he can correct the fuel values, and also see what else is bad b4 u try and run it....if you keep trying to run it the way it is right now, you could be looking at some severe problems...SO STOP TRYING TO RUN IT...lol....but seriously....get it looked at...its def a bad flash

Did you install the cams while you had the ECU out being reflashed? Did you install cam gears?
