You need to take the bolts out of the front and rear engine mounts. One is in front below the turbo, the other is in the back on top of the tranny (you can get to it with the battery out from top). Once these mounts are disconnected the motor can rotate fore and aft pretty easily. You will need to jack up the front of the engine under the front motor mount. This will cause the engine to rotate away from the rear crossmember giveing you more room to drop the TC out through. This is the procedure that the Mitsubishi Service manual calls for when removing the TC. You will also need to remove the dust sheild that is on the tailshaft of the TC. It's the round tin piece that frotects the tailshaft/riveshaft interface and seals the dust out. With that dust sheild removed and the motor rotated from jacking it in the front the tC can drop right out. It doesn't seem like these two small things help that much, but believe me, they make a world of a difference.
