My evo grinds in 2nd gear somtimes...
I had/have same problem. First thing is to make sure you put the clutch all the way down when shifiting into second ( yea its sounds dumb but alot of people dont realize this when driving hard) and pull it to the right angle. Second thing is what im going to do is swap my tranny fluid for bg synchro shift. Took my car to the dealer with same problem, ended up spending $125 to hear them say its fine, and clutch is good, I have same amount of miles as you and went to the dealer last week.
Try switching out the tans fluid. If your synchros are messed up it will just mask the problem for a while. Then you need to take youre tranny to TRE (you can try the dealer but i doubt they will cover you). However, if the fluid has little particles in it that are messing up the friction properties, than the current fluid might not be allowing the synchros to operate properly.
Id say, as long as its not happening every shift, you have a chance that its not messed up.
Also, were from MI, so its gonna take us a good 15 miles or so for the trans to get up to a somewhat reasonable temp. Just thought id throw that out there since a lot of people dont warm up their cars right.

When my car is cold sometimes I cant get in 3rd gear. I just release clutch, blip trottle, and put it in 3rd. I grinded once, and will avoid it until I get everything rebuilt.
If you cant get it in gear, dont jam it in. You will hurt your baby

I have the same problem shifting into 2nd at high rpms. It grinds sometimes but not always, it rarely does it. I have 15k in my car and have not changed fluids. this might be my problems.
Grinding is cause due to the following reasons:
1. Your tranny fluid has not warmed up and is not able to provide sufficient lubrication ...
2. The current tranny fluid is too slippery with friction modifiers, in this case replace it with either BG synchroshift or Pennzoil synchromesh.
3. Your synchros in your tranny are worn out, in this case you will have to replace the synchros which are not too expensive .... maybe $250 to $500
platinumspecv: no need to buy a new tranny, just fix the one you have right now
