GT35R - Happy or not?

Trying to find out if the people who have installed this turbo are happy with their choice. Not interested in other turbos that people have. Let's TRY to keep this thread to GT35R owners only.

Are you using this turbo for your daily driver?

Is the lag annoying?

Do you wish that you bought something else?

Have you experienced any other downside not listed?

You're saying that you are getting full boost by 3500 rpm? I'm not sure if I get that on my stock turbo!

I think he meant a good amount of boost not full boost...i could be wrong though...anyway i would also like to know if people are happy or not with their gt35r kits, on the stock displacement though...

Me too! I've got a GT35R turbo kit sitting in my garage right now. That's why I'm hoping more will chime in.

^I hate to put another non-answer to the thread in here but i think your best bet is to build the motor somehow...either blueprint and shift at 9k or stroke and shift at 7500. Stock displacement and redline are not a good mix for a big turbo like that. I say let it sit around for a while, save up the cash for a stage3 head and a block building kit.

People's opinions are all over the place on the many different threads that I've read. What you've said is a surefire way of improving things, but the opinions have come from few that actually have the turbo installed.

mine is installed. i am a bit happy. a bit cause i need more supporting mods like a sheet intake manifld, throttle body and an upgraded ignition system.
the lag takes a lot of getting used to. i havent installed my aem ems yet so i hope that will help a bit.
cant use my car as a daily driver cause my tc is goin out on me- thats the downside for me!!!
i guess if i can just do it over again, i will still get this turbo but i want everything in it (ems,tb,ignition) to be installed in the car. and a stroker kit!
you will like it a lot, you just have to play catch up as full boost kicks in at @4300-4500 rpm's , and when it kicks in, corvette and cobra owners will have that awed look in their faces as you pass em by.
goodluck.

I am getting 400ftlb by 3500rpm and 450ftlb at 4000rpm, This is why it is so driveable.

yeah, everyone seems to be hung up on "reaching full boost by (fill in rpm)". My research tells me that, yes full boost by 4200-4500, but you're pushing a bunch more air by 3500-3700 (more air = more HP) then stock turbo could ever hope for. How do you have your car set up?
