thanks guys intresting stuff
The factory ECU is very intelligent and with the air temperature and barometric pressure sensor housed in the Volume AirFlow meter, there is constant correction so daily driving will not be compromised.

If you have a spare ECU or buy one from us to keep your EVO on the road, we can flash it with a P2 and send it back to you. You can use it as long as you get the immobilizer synched with the ECU at your local Dealer. If you are local, we have the factory tool to synch the immobilizer here as well.

so if i send you my spare ecu you can configure it to read my key and it wont have any problems daily driving with the mods that i got now if i get upgrades(nothing major yet)i send it back and get it reflashed. i was also planning on getting more mods and getting it swithched over to map sensor could the ecu take that or not

thanks for your help fellas i wish more peeps would actually vote on this poll though

If you've searched you know this is a dangerous topic. I will speak only of my personal expirience. I researched for about a year and finally called Vishnu. They didn't answer thier phone so I called Works. They answered thier phone then and have always anwsered since. This is more important than you can possibly imagine when your stressed about your ECU in the mail somwhere, and 30k of dead metal in the driveway.
I have had a p2 since 03' and recently upgraded to their most recent software with noticeably smoother boost control. Tell them what you want and they will tailor a tune to suit your needs. They have never blown anyone's motor up and make some great low and mid range power. MBC's suck and you'd better know your **** to run a stand alone. Good luck

With proper monitoring you are not going to blow your motor. Tuning an Evo is just like a 95-99 (2g) Eclipse. Don't be intimidated by a vendor saying barometric sensor this, air temperature that... 2g have the same sensors and people have been making goobs of power with AFC's for years. Look how similar they really are;

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ecu-harness-2G.html
I spent six years upgrading and working on my 2g and never heard of a "flash" (DSM chips, maybe?) till I got an Evo. I suspect that when everyone really catches on how limiting flashes really are, learn how easy an AFC really is, and gets comfortable with Evos; Flashes will go the way of the dinosour.
I'm tuning with an AFC-II. My mods are here;

I dyno on the 12th and I'll tell you exatly what I put down with 91 ocatne and no flash.

Yeah! Preach on. What you need to do is re-jet the carbs and and make sure you use the shot-peened pushrods. You'll be good to go.

Turbolarry is half right. Just through the mail flashes alone are good ,but Stick with the SAFC to fine tune. The best thing though if you live near one of the vendors that do flashes or if Al from Dynoflash comes to your town get a custome flash.
Still keep the SAFC get a map for race gas.
Flashes are great you will end up making more TQ.
Right now I am using the ECU+ piggyback and Next saturday I'm getting a custome tune from Al. I can post the before and after. I'm gonna keep the ECU+ for the logging and to do a race gas map.
