No, it's a stock box that shifts the way they were designed to, not the way built them. In other words when mass producing parts you can and usually do end up with parts at the limits of their tolerances that still work, so they make it through Q&A (Quality and Acceptability) inspection. However, they will never perform as well as a part that was built at exact (or as close as humanly possible) tolerances. This is essentially what TRE does, they set up the tranny exactly the way it should be, and do some other tweaks that are trade secrets. It is still a fully syncronized gearbox, no dog setup.

I have to get this done to my EVO with front LSD. I mean mine shifts fine but I want it to feel like my S2000 when i used to shift at 9K killing gears with no problems. However, I am not sure if I will go with Shepered or TRE.... after all both are amazing.

Depending on how hard it's been ground, when the synchros get worn and u keep shifting hard and feel grinding, it's going to put a lot of wear on the sliders and synchro gear. Synchros aren't the only thing that wears. The hubs can get indented the slider splines and synchro/ synchro gear splines can get rounded making them harder to align with each other. Places like tre and shep most likely always replace the hub and slider if there is any slight signs of wear between each gearset and the synchros on each side of the hub/slider. There's more to a good shifting tranny most of the time than just replacing synchros. I rebuilt my last trans and it shifts great.
