Question Lifter Tick Video and Question

I installed HKS 264's yesterday and have noticed loud lifter tick. At least, that's what I think it is. I took a video of my car idling while cool, halfway warmed up, and fully warm. The ticking seems to get louder as the engine warms up. My question is: is this just lifter tick or is something else going on with my car? Also, is there anything I can do to help rid myself of this problem. Thanks,
Paul

i had the same problem, sounded just like that.

what kind of oil are you using?

I switched to a non syntheic for 1000 miles

than put mobile 1 10w30 in the click went away.

I also tried using lucaus engine stabliziler oil, that work great too.

I'm using Mobil 1 10W30. I may try changing the oil tomorrow. I had read that lifter tick was fairly common with HKS cams, but never imagined it would be this loud. Just wanted to make sure that is all that was happening. Anyone else's input would be greatly appreciated.

PVD04 Thank you man.... Now i can sleep calm at night knowing that it is the lifter I have the same problem on my car. I put 264 Hks cams in and is started the same noise You might want to take that engine cover off and make sure that every bolt is tight on the CAM INSTALL I went to numerous shops and they told me that it is the lifter and my car sounds exactly the same I wouldnt worry too much (Yes i know it sucks but what can you do) thank god its not the TC or tranny.

yup mine sounds the exact same with 272's. Especially when cold or I first start driving the car from sitting for a few mins. Its pretty loud, but i think its common with the cams.

That tick is familiar with a bad install. Properly bleeding the lifters before installing the cams and pre-lubing them before should always be done with cam installs. I have not experienced a ticking that loud before. At times you may hear a tick when cold but goes away when warm

mine goes away when warm, and i pre lubed the cams with install lube as well. I tried to bleed the lifters with a small alan wrench, but nothing budged out of any of mine.

My car has gotten quieter since then. There's now a slight tick that I can hear between about 2000-3000 RPM with the hood open, but that's all. No tick at idle and no tick at higher RPM.

Ryan do you have a built motor? They say 20w50 is better for built motors for loose clearances
