They sound similiar if not identical. I had the MR Valve. I do not suggest it with the HKS RS Suction Intake. It holds boost very well. I was pushing 22 through it.

I plan on ordering the MR diverter valve for my car, ive read that it holds boost alot better and is a lil bit louder, plus no welding needs to be done and wont cause stauling (like some aftermarket blow off valves) i'd say its well worth the 100 dollars and change!

sounds should be identical because they are both vent-to-intake design. That whooosh sound you hear is either coming through the air intake, or the BOV is a vent-to -atmosphere design, which as mentioned above may cause stalling because the MAS gets confused.

i just put the MR bypass valve on mine, and it sounds exactly the same... and it holds boost a lil bit more constantly than the stock valve.

Actually that's not completely true. The sucking sound when you're accelerating is from the intake, and the "whooosh" sound when you press in the clutch is not. It's the BOV or DV either venting to atmosphere (loud) or venting back in (quieter). The MR DV along with an intake will give you the air in/out sound without being too obnoxiously loud.

i have driven with the mr bypass valve for a while now, and no problem what so ever, great replacement for the stock vavle, it holds boost much better, and doesn t cause any stalling or bogging.

i am still running stock boost level, with the stock valve the boost would go up to 21psi and would drop occasioanly under 16psi, now it never goes under 17psi and somtimes goes up as much as 23psi depending on gear and load i am at, and the MR Valve can handle boost of over 25psi without leaking.

Sorry if that was confusing, to clarify: I was saying that IF you hear the whoosh sound when you shift (from the BOV) that you are hearing it through the intake piping if it is VTI. But if it is loud and not coming through the intake, then the BOV is a VTA. Not that I need to explain it to you, I can tell you know what you are talking about, but I didn't want you to think that I am making stuff up either.
