Boost Creep with MBC???

Ok Im really pissed. I installed TBE exhaust yesterday and the car was spiking to 24-26psi so I really needed to put on the MBC. Did so... now car is boost creeping. Nail the gas.. 15psi.. climbs to 20-21. Nail it at 5500+ and it will go to 20 then creep to 23. WTF. This is old school Hallman MBC I had on my Talon AWD and it held boost great. 20psi no problems. Anyone else experiencing this?

My mods are Helix intake, IC piping, exhaust, MBC. No flash yet.

Tom

boost creep

funny thing, well really not so funny, but i have the exact same problem. read my post. what year is your evo? did you install a 02 housing also? im using a spec2 and still cant stop the creep. let me know if you figure it out. Im going to give it a while and see what info i can get about it first, then im going to take the turbo apart and port it. Just not sure how much is ok to port. Billy

Stock 02. Things is, I know other guys in EVOs and this did not happen. I HATE that. I have an 05. I find it weird it was NOT creeping until I put on my MBC. It was just spiking but thats normal for stock I believe.

The car SHOULD be going to Pruven Performance later this week hopefully they can figure it out.

I used to get boost creep with my hallman mbc, I changed the vacume lines to a larger size and it helped. It holds steady threw all the gears and doesn't spike but I will get different boost readings in 5th gear, usually .1bar higher then 1st-4th gear?

Im still messing around with it to try and find the sweet spot, so far i think it runs best @ 1.3bar

This could be a problem related to your wastegate. I would check it out at least, it may not be actuating when you need.

I would get a walbro fuel pump> more fuel. Also a tune. I'm sure it will solve the problem.

Pump up you wastegat acutator line with a hand pump (like a MityVac) see if it holds pressure. Doesn't sound like your wastegate is opening all the way.

Of course you could just be overrunning your wastgate with exhaust. You normally get creep when switching to a bigger turbo. But sometimes when just opening up all the flows (intake/ exhaust) makes the turbo act "bigger"

Shorten up lengths of hose to you wastgate if possible, so you get a strong boost signal to it. Does the MBC come with some type of orifice? It may be too small.

Well the thing is, before the MBC it wasnt creeping at all. It would just spike slightly then go to 19-20, then fall to 16 and HOLD to redline. As soon as I get the MBC on, theres been problems.

Its a very old Hallman MBC, like 4-5 years old, came off my 1G DSM. I used old vacuum lines not new ones, Im not sure if that matters. I didnt go buy a brand new new Hallman with new lines and such so I dont know if that could be causing the problem either. I might try shortening the line to the wastegate though! Thanks

before you get into any crazyness and any obsene money spending on parts and stuff. just run a vacume line from the compressor to the gate. and see if the car will run the lowest boost possible of about 10 psi or so. if it does then you have a boost controller problem, and you know it for a fact, and you can start working on it from there. best thing to do is just getting an electric boost controler if after you put in the vacume line from the compressor to the gate and it works as it should, you should deffinitely just have pruven install an electric boost controler.
