relocating mini battery under passenger seat

i want to relocate my battery to under the passenger seat, and i've found how-to's on relocation to the trunk...

my questions:

1) where would be a good ground under the passenger's seat?

2) is there anyway to just reuse the OEM battery terminals? if not, i assume they just sell battery terminals at pep-boys?

3) how much is a mini battery box and where can i find one? (lancershop.com doesn't have 'em)

thanks!

They will most likely not allow you to participate because it has to be sealed off from the cabin

Don't batterys have to be outside the cabin because of fumes or something like that?

slap it in the trunk bro... having battery acid leak inside the cabin isn't cool...
then again.. you could opt for a dry cell batt...
then again... it's still considered a hazardous material... so if anything happens...
you're gonna end up like one of the fantastic 4 because of your batt between someone's legs

i can understand in a really bad accident something damaging the battery and hurting someone...but in that bad of an accident someone is gonna get hurt.

other than that, it's a mini battery from odyssey - isn't that dry cell or whatever? i know it doesn't leak and you can lay it down and stuff...
anyway, i'll keep autox in mind, as i would like to take it to the track a little in the future (just for fun whenever i have some extra cash) - thanks!

outside the cabin is where it has to be placed for racing. if you have it in the trunk it has to be contained in approved battery box.

Dry cell batteries do not have to be in a box.

most batteries will emit some sort of vapor. most WET cell batteries will have a vent somwhere on the battery. the GEL type of batteries will still emit vapors, just not as much. it is a gel type of acid which has fiberglass inbetween the plates to keep the liquid there. that is why you can lay it down unlike the regular WET type of battery. look around on the battery and you will find a vent. it may be small, but it will be there. if you look at the OPTIMA batteries, you will see on the top two black sponge looking things. those are the vents. the batteries need to be vented because of the chemical reaction between the lead plates and the electrolyte/sulfuric acid that is in the battery. this is true when the battery is being charged. think of it like this-when you are charging the battery, the liquid is being heated and turned into vapor. just like when you boil water, it turns to steam. the battery is typically being charged through out your driving session. if you listen to the stereo-even stock-without the car running, once the car is started it will be charging the battery right away. the battery will get warm or maybe even hot. would you want to be that passenger with a battery under the seat and get into an accident and have it explode under your AZZ from the seat rail shorting out on the posts?!?!!? i wouldnt. trust me, you dont want to have it in the cab. just the vapors alone will cause deterioration of the items around it over time. i had a battery explode from being overcharged while i was working under the hood of the car. the acid isnt very forgiving.....

like others have said-put it in the trunk if you want to relocate it. sanctioning racing bodies do this for a reason-YOUR SAFETY. be the wiser and put it in the trunk.

i just need to know where i can get a BOX?!?!? a nice, small black plastic box made for holding a mini battery (where the cover has 'humps' for the terminals and stuff) - i just want it to be covered and clean-looking no matter where i put it.

Here's a post I did back in Nov 03. I did exactly what you are asking about. The box I got was made for the Odyssey PC680. I got it from a vendor on Ebay. Not sure if he's still there. The boxes came plain alum or powdercoated black.
