Help! Clutch problems

Well I just got my evo (finally) but have a problem with my clutch or tranny. It is EXTREMELY hard to get into gear at a stop, in fact when I first start it I almost always have to put it gear before turning the car on. Once it is moving however it becomes much easier still notchy and occasionally have to force though. I also notice that when the car is at a standstill and I have the clutch depressed and in gear it still wants to move like the clutch isn't fully depressed. I know I've read of people with the same problem but cant remember what it is, also I did a search and gave up after going through 4 pages. Please can someone help. Its got a Cusco twin plate clutch that only has 5,000 miles and it just started doing this. Thanks!!

is it just first gear or all gears?

could be something isnt lined up for the shifter correctly

bring it back to the place you had the clutch installed ask them to look at it. or call them first and ask what they think.

I would check your tranny fluid.

The fluid is fine. Problem is the clutch was installed in FL and I'm in ID. From a stop its hard or impossible in any gear but once I'm moving its not so bad.

BLEED it. Find someone to help and bleed it. Bring plenty of brake fluid (DOT 3 or 4). Sounds like that may be alot of the problem. There's a writeup w/pics around here somewhere! Good luck!

Pop the inspection cap out of the bell housing and see if any of the bolts have back out of the pressure plate. Also, look to see if any of the fingers on the pressure plate are cracked or broken.

do you know what kind of transmission fluid id in there? If it's redline or something id say that might be your problem. Its too slick for some evo syncros. Maybe change it out with some pennzoil synchroshift.

I had the same issue after installing an aftermarket clutch. Try adjusting the clutch pedal. Mine was grabbing too close to the floor. It felt like it would not completely engage. The car would creep forward, even with the clutch pedal depressed. Haven't had a problem since adjusting the pedal a few turns.

Gotta be a pedal problem. I'd check that before anything else.

Ok this might be a dumb question but how do you adjust the pedal? I've been told they aren't adjustable.

hey, I know of this problem. your discs are probably in backwards. it IS possible to assemble it this way, but it totally screws up the engagement.

find the website for a company called Daikin, they are the US distributor for the exeddy/cusco clutches. you can find on that site the proper assembly by part number. Their diagrams are extremely detailed and can help whomever is working on your car bet it right.
