Talking Arp Head stud

Hey guys i have searched the site and i have asked many people this question so don't tell me its on here and i should search! ok w/ that said ...heres the question. Do i have to torque the studs into the block OR just screw them in w/ the allen key till they are tight/reach bottom. One answer i got was to torque them (30,60,90)....another answer i got by the directions that came w/ the headstuds and by searching other sites on the net which was to screw them in hand tight only.

Can someone please clear this up??

The other big question is whether you put any sealant on them and whether you put any loctite on them. I'm fairly sure that they should be hand tight only, but snug.

Evoisdream, we're talking about studs not head bolts.

Bump because I've got some ARP's that I need to install too.

use the arp moly lube and screw them in with your hand... then use a allen key just to make sure that they are snug (by no means do any more than hand tight when you do this)

then place the washers and nuts on and I would tighten them to ARP's specs (which is I believe 70 ft lb if i remember correctly)

but thats what I have done in the past and has worked great.

(I take no liabilty for these directions, modify your car at your own risk )

I thought the moly stuff went on the threads of the nut, not the stud? Or is it both?

Follow ARP's directions, the studs go in the block hand tight. When in doubt call ARP they are eager to help always.

Is any threadlocker required or just moly lube?

yikes the EVO 8 is supposed to be 70ftlbs per ARP engineers, they also need to be torqued cycled 5 times.

Yea, I thought it was supposed to be 70ft lbs too, 90 seems like a too much ouch. They could completely back off. I think you should call arp, then retorque to 70.

70 ft lbs has allowed leaks... Most shops AMS/Buschur/Pruven/Zeusmotorworks torque them to at least 80 and up.

Also, it would be interesting to see how many people are having oil seeping from the head gasket along with what they torqued them at.
