Getting the best 0-60 mph time?

Greetings Evo enthusiasts.

I purchased my new 2005 White Evolution MR yesterday and I must say that the Evo is the most amazing production car for under 40k. I am addicted!

I have been reading this forum for a three weeks researching for my MR and have not found the answer that will help me in my goals.

I would like to tune my Evo with the sole purpose of maximizing 0 to 60 ft times while maximizing low to mid range torque.

I plan to drive the car daily, and race at my local road course.

My local track has an event that stages two cars to be lined up on the start-finish line and then given the green flag to drag race around the oval of the track back to the start-finish line. (like regular short circle track racing with a drag race twist.). Race around the oval for one lap. First one back to the finish line wins. It’s a process of elimination event that gets the adrenaline boosted!

The track is small and requires a lot of low to mid range torque to pull out of the aggressive corners. The track is 3/8th of a mile raced counter clockwise. The stock cars that race there top out at 92 miles per hour so I’m guessing that I would need only first through third gear. But the most important requirement is the ability to get out of the hole as fast as possible. Statistically, the first car to turn one wins the race!

I would like to know what it will take to maximise my 0-60 ft times to beat everyone to the first turn?
What Mods should i concentrate on.?

Your opinions are much appreciated!

if you know how to launch well on your evo, the stock mr is good enough for nice 0~60ft time,

i think you should "concentrate" on a spare TC or aftermarket clutch w/lighten flywheel,
and focus on weight reduction, like lightweighted rims, tires, ti catback, mini battery, cf hood, taking off the rear seat/wing, etc...

then the power mods, bc, fuel control, etc...two stage launch switch or you can get that feature from AEM EMS, but again, you'll better have fund ready to repair TC, clutch, or even your transmission.

hope this helps,

keep stock intake, turbo back exhaust, suspension mods (don't take your blistens out) like springs or coilover over the oem strut, rear sway bar, lighter front strut bar, trunk bar, boost controller, and if you have enough money, evo 7 anti lag system.

CF hood tend to be heavier than stock at this point, unless you take the underside fiberglass reinforcement out.

but with the right set of tires (r-compound< critically ever so important in track) and suspension setup you like, then you'll be good.

unless you do aem or bigger turbo, our peak whp comes at about 4000 rpm, then hits a dip at 5500 rpm and it stays constant until the redline.

Thanks peeps.

I have been reading non stop to get the info im looking for.

I believe i have decided on a stroker kit or the 2.4 swap.

I also have an 98 Dodge Neon with a 2.4 stratus motor in it. The low end torque will put you back in the seat like an old Big Block. SICK pull!

I gave up on the neon to go EVO power.

I am so happy with the car but miss my low end power. 1-3000k

From my reading the stroker kit or the 2.4 swap will put me whre i want to be!!!!

The neon is SICK to say the least. So i am looking for that kind of low end street fun, and top end all wheel drive BOOSTED POWER!!!!!!!!

Thanks again !!!!!!

What track/event are you referring to? I am local in Portland as well. I think I may have seen your car out at Speed Concept in Aloha a week or two ago. Let me know I may want to come out and check it out.

Thanks,
