Thumbs down ACT client assistance

After I read many good reviews about ACT HDSS, I decided to contact ACT company to clarify my last doubts and probably buy one for me.
I tried to contact ACT through act web site and nobody answered my e-mails.
I tried to contact ACT man through a Private Message and he doesn't answered my two solicitations.
I read that one of the best things when buying an ACT clutch was the great client assistance with its custumers.
Where is the great client assistance?

I just wanted to know if the ACT HDSS for the EVO 8 would fit perfectly in my EVO 7.

I am pretty sure they are the exact same.

Anyways, how long of a time span have you given them? They are in the clutch business and not the web surfing business, you know. I am sure someone will be with you shortly.

I know the EVO 7 uses a different pressure plate, but I don't know about the disc.

There was someone yesterday that had some problem with this clutch on an Evo VII. ACTMan told him that there is some difference on the preasure plate.

Sorry for the delay. This must be David, huh? It looks like you sent us an email Thursday of last week. Normally we respond faster, but we had a couple people out of the office. Anyway, Dean in Customer service sent out an email to you. I never got your PM solicitations since I don't use PM (or IM) because it drives me nuts. I don't know where you messages went, but not to me. I do respond well to emails but I didn't get any emails from you. My official job is to head up R&D, not really do Customer Service so I am not always easy to get a hold of. Anyway, sorry again for the slow response.

Bottom line: Will it work? Yes. Perfectly? No. You really need an EVO 7 pressure plate, not an EVO 8 pressure plate since the geometry is different on the two. Besides the pressure plate, the rest of the parts are identical.

You guys recommend changing out the whole kit on the ACT website....can failure occur if using the stock pressure plate?

and *270kmh*...change that thumbs down sign on the thread since he got back to you in a few hours time......

If the stock pressure plate is still good, then there is no problem with failure, but you won't get the same gain in performance. The extra torque capacity and mods for better shifting are acheived through the pressure plate, not the disc. We sell our parts separately as well as in kits, unlike some of our competitors, just so you are not forced to buy the whole thing if you don't need to. IMO, with the amount of labor it takes to change an EVO clutch I would error on the side of caution. The extra cost will soon be forgotten but the memory of having a premature clutch problem and having to do it over again will last a long time.
