RPS Single disc street clutch feedback?

Seems like alot of people are running the ACT street disc. Not alot of people reporting there impressions of the RPS single disc street clutch. This is the equivalent product to the ACT street disc that everyone is using.

Who is running one and how do you like it. How is the pedal compared to stock. Any high rpm shifting problems? Any problems at all? Anybody worn one out already?

I am talking about the RPS part number MS-16001-ST. Found on the www.turboclutch.com website. Retail is a little over $700. Same rated torque capacity as the ACT. I know they have a good pressure plate for the MKIV Supras and they make some parts for TRD as well.

That clutch is $700 and the ACT is $480, I think alot more people go with the ACT rather than the RPS so there won't be many impressions on it. I like the RPS Carbon Carbon

The ACT clutch that is equivalent to the single disc RPS is the MB7-HDSS, and its retail price is $691 from the ACT website. The street/internet pricing is much less though. This is the ACT clutch that everyone uses. The difference in price isnt really that much from a retail stand point.

I realize that not as many people use the RPS single disc, but there has to be some. I found that Snoop uses it. I have sent him a PM, but havent heard from him yet.

I think CTX2000 uses one too.

I just installed an rps single disk clutch in my setup, but alas have not started the engine yet so no feedback yet. The pedal feel is great with the motor off, though, hehe, and I have the six puck version.

I went ahead an got this RPS single disc clutch. First impressions of it, the clutch is very very nice and smooth. I am using the original stock flywheel, and the street RPS clutch. The pedal pressure seems to be much softer than my friends ACT clutch. If it holds the same torque as the ACT, then this seems to be a very good clutch for the Evo. I need to get it broken in and then I will see how it holds up under power.

JT at RPS suggested replacing the factory clutch line with a stainless steel line without the restrictor in it. I may order one of those in the near future.

BTW, anybody in NC,SC, VA or TN that needs a clutch installed, we are starting to do clutch installs. PM me for details.

I just installed the rps 6 puck in a friends evo. I would highly recommend you get the revised TOB retainer. The TOB popped out twice on his. The revised one I don't think would ever pop out. Driving impressions, Pedal is only slightly stiffer than stock, engagement is awesome. Very easily slipped. I would definently recommend this over the act. From what I hear the ACT is very harsh and not slippable.

I havent heard of the revised TOB retainer. I hope mine has it, but I dont think it does. Mine looks like is uses the same TOB attachment method as the stock pressure plate. What does the new revised TOB look like?

Instead of the lin snapring it is replaced by a 1/8" thick square ring and a new TOB machined to accept it. The downside is I'm not sure how easy it would be to remove if you ever had to take the tranny back out. I could hardly get it to disengage with everything off the car.

Mine didnt have a square tob machined connection, so I must have the old style one. I hope it holds up, dont want to have to pull it back out just for the TOB connection.

It's up to you. The install isn't very fun so if you don't want to do it again I would recommend calling them and getting the new one.
