Again, let me make it clear that it isn't as much about the cams themselves as it is the cam timing, and how it affects volumetric efficiency.

How much of a difference would I get with upgrading from the stockers to 272s, about the same aslong as I stay out of boost?

i'm sure the humidity there is also doing wonders for your intercooler efficiency. glad the cams work. how much more were they over the 272's? how different is the lift duration?

All the HKS cams (264, 272, 280) have the same lift. The only difference between them is duration.

I haven't had any real stalling issues with the A/C on. The fast idle circuit jumps in when the A/C is switched on, and does a decent job of compensating.

So far, I've had the stock cams (obviously), 272s, and now 280s. I've noticed only an increase in fuel economy after upgrading the cams (along with exhaust and other mods) AND a good tuning.

Ted, what is your opinion on this cam timing for my 272's w/ a bigger turbo? BTW, good job on the excellent fuel economy. With my stage 1+ I can get 300 miles to the tank w/ highway driving.

Ted, how is your gas mileage for city driving? Or in stop and go traffic?

My cylinder head is bone stock.

I'm observing an improvement in across the board fuel economy. My mixed hwy/cty appears to be almost 300 miles per tank. Last night, in hilly terrain with windy, rainy weather, I still managed 350 miles despite being weighted down with a full trunk.

As far as the 0/-2 setting for 272s, it should work well if the idle is acceptable.

Thanks, Ted. I will make sure to have them adjusted when Shiv tunes it next weekend.

Is the cam timing the difference? Do you think that it would work with any evo or do you need the same mods as you? That would be great to get that much. Thanks for the info.

hey have you tried uhm... silversurfer's -4/-1 setup... he also claimed more low end and stock idle, better than stock in fact plus a lotta other lalalala ... i can't remember everything he said but i'm very interested in cam timing...

i know that the seperation keeps idle liveable... as long as you keep the overlap apart by 2-3 degrees.... but silver surfer has his numbers flipped from yours... are you guys sayin' the same thing? which is exhaust and which is intake? (this was directed at superhatch)

and then silversurfer said that you should never go to the positve end... but obviously ted has gone to the positive... i'm not sayin' silver surfer is all knowing or anything... i actually advocate against the single spring mod in the greddy type-s but he did make some interesting reading with the cam timing before this post here...

more info please!

here is that thread btw.
