500whp is correct. It bolts directly to the stock cat so it has to taper...at least that's what the reps at blitz told me.

the taper is about 1/4 inch from the cat to 3" piping. It is really quick. I have this installed with a Helix 3" dp and UR 3" high flow cat and fitment is great with all three. Loudness . . . . . . I have heard louder but I do like this exhaust alot. Performance is great. I am pretty sure this thing was 3" . . . . . It matches all of my other 3" exhaust parts??!!

 

The taper is there to actually help with installing the bolts and nuts. . . . . . . it has to be there or you wouldn't be able to install it.

I really don't understand the whole tappering issue. Is it that big of a deal? The Magnaflow Ti tapers at the cat and it was supposedly the highest HP producing cat back exhaust for the Evo. I think it's significance is way over rated.

 

I don't care about the tapering at all. it allows you to use your stock cat or not (it comes with 2 different gaskets that work. The hole is larger on the Blitz exhaust than the stock cat hole. . . .. if that helps.
