DP/catback combo advice needed

OK, so I've read nearly every thread on exhausts and downpipes on EvoM.....my head is spinning.

My mod goals are pretty modest (only looking for around 300 whp) and this will be my daily driver. So, I'm looking for a DP & catback combo to hook-up to the stock cat; I want to ensure that I'm fully emissions compliant (don't want any jerry-rigging of O2 bungs etc) and that I have a high quality system. I don't want it to be TOO loud and cost isn't an issue (quality & fitment are).

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the following. I would like some advice from people who are running these combos.....please don't offer advice on alternative systems; I'm not interested.

So, I'm definitely going with the HKS downpipe mated to;
(a) HKS Hi-Power 30th Anniv
(b) Greddy Ti
(c) Magnaflow Ti.

I would really appreciate some advice from people in the know (yes, I've already read "THE exhaust thread" and the Norcal sound-clip review thread). If you've got/had any of these combos and love/hate them for whatever reason, I'd love to hear about it.

I think the HKS Carbon Ti is the most popular and probably the better of the 3.

^I LOOOOVE the look of the HKS and the 3in turboback gives great power gains, however its hard to see how those other two are any lesser in quality. I'd go with the least price...

Exactly, most of the top 3" exhausts are the same. Mainly with HKS you are paying for the name. I have a full 3" Megan racing turboback and I love it.

Magnaflow Ti and Bushur Racing Cat back
Those are the best in terms of power, Magnaflow will not make the Ti Exhaust anymore so you can get it at a decent price now, Buschur catback I dont like how it looks, but if its power forget how it looks.

On the exhaust test that was done
Magnaflow Ti first place
Buschur Racing Second place

you dont need anything else, go for Buschur its the best bang for buck, and the difference in whp was 2 only.

Randy,

How come Magnaflow stopped producing the Ti.....it's still on their website and the price has dropped to a "reasonable" $895 ??

Don't you have this exhaust ?

if you are keeping stock cat nothing beats hks's offerings or fujitsubo if you wanna get fancy pants.

the magnaflow unit is just lame... tapers down suddenly at the cat... not good for that kinda money.

the greddy is more for using a full 3" system.

Megan Racing exaust... its 3" all the way out, sounds great, comes with a silencer if you want the car to sound more like stock for daily driving. Megan racing is one of the easiest on the wallet, with great quality.

I think that most systems produce about the same power.... Prolly the Bushchur and other similar "straight through" systems give the most gains. OTOH, the biggest differences can be in the total weight of the system and more importantly (to me), is the sound quality... That can be highly subjective and what sounds good to you might be awful to me... Anyway, I would definitely try to find a system that is light, inexpensive and make the best sound to your ears (maybe the list is backwards )

Good luck

Blitz Nur Spec-R racing, GReddy Ti or HKS are all great exhaust systems! Blitz Nur Spec-R is very loud tho!

If you want something quiet, go w/ GReddy EVO2.
