I hear that evo VI has different piston design than evo V. better grooves for oil squirters or something?

so forged piston and rods for evo VIII should work on evo V? do you know for sure? any way to confrim? thanks for the quick reply!

Yes that's true, the 6 pistons where built much better & the TME VI pistons came with a special coating. But they can all be interchangable...Evo 4-8.

My friend & mechanic had an EVO 5 which he put TME VI pistons in...till he blew the motor the other day & now had wiseco EVO 8 pistons...as so do I in my EVO VI (i'm using Wiseco EVO 8 pistons)

Yes forged rods & pistons for evo 8 will work in EVO 5 no problem.

Depends?

Are u putting 8 pistons in 5 block? If you are the best thing & safest thing is to bore it .20 over because that's a '98 block & should have seen some wear. By boring it u will start fresh again, with nice even cylinder walls and proper to-spec piston wall clearances.

I should have done this with my car, but I dropped stock bore 8 pistons in & now it's using oil, so in a few weeks I'm gonna have to pull it & bore it .20 over and put new pistons back in. But I BLEW my motor and cyl. # 4 got damaged with scaring so when mechanic honed it out, when it should have been bored .20 over.

If it's a low mileage 8 block & u gonna put 5 pistons in, then you can get away with just honing the block & dropping std. bore pistons in.

If you are not sure which pistons fit you propbably have never measured bore taper. Get that block to a machine shop. It is against goodness to toss parts into your engine. Do it right and get the most for your money. You will be glad you did.
