I'm not the person to ask. I drive for high mileage. It's a rally car for crying out loud!

If time is your goal and longevity isn't, try this;

Put a paper clip in the hand brake button to disable the rachet.

Pull up on the hand brake

Rev to 6500 rpm (or to the peak hp rpm if you have a dyno chart)

let the clutch out just enough so you don't move forward but can build boost to about 10 psi (if you are lucky enough to get it that high).

When you want to go -

drop the hand brake while you slip the clutch as fast as you can without letting the rpm fall below 5000 rpm.

That should get you under 1.7.

and wear out your clutch fast

im at 30K and still on stock clutch. i only launch when neessary but most of the time i baby my clutch. i usually rev up to 5-5500 to launch my car a nd how i do it is rev up to 5500 slip a bit and release it right away. sometimes it smells, sometimes it doesn't. i haven't been to a track yet but i will soon to see what i hit =)

If I am running the 1/4 I generally take it up to between 4500 and 5000. When the 3rd light comes on I slowly let the clutch up until the car starts to move forward then I quickly release it. This spins the tires like mad but I am not running the sticky Advans right now so I expect it would grab better with the Advans on.

Once you are moving you want to shift around 7400 RPM. This has yielded the best 1/4 mile times for me. Shifting at 7k tends to add about 4 to 5 tenths of a second to my time.

Good Luck!
