How do You, launch/shift/drive your car?

I'm gettin a new clutch put in within the next week or so and was wondering how everyone else out there drives. I'm new to a car that has this much power and AWD and I know they make a huge difference in how you drive the car. I just don't wanna screw up my car by driving it wrong.

I'm just lookin for general tips and how to's. I'll go ahead and say I might not know what some things mean but i can usually figure it out. Thanks

generally, dont drop the clutch at 7k or launch the car all the time (exagerating).

I drive pretty conservatively -- I give the EVO just enough gas to get it moving. When I want to do a "daily driver" launch, I'll rev to around 3k RPMS to get it moving. This is a good way to get maximum life out of your clutch (at least when compared to some in this forum).

Everyone's going to have a different style. Are you looking for a launch? I've launched from as high as 5k RPMs. While it's fun, it will kill your clutch fast. I've only tried a few times.

In general, the less you shift and the less you use your clutch, the better off you'll be long term. Also, slip the clutch when you can -- dumps also cause premature wear.

Why are you getting a new clutch anyway?

How many miles? If you're under 50-60k, you either have a defective clutch or a bad habit...

Ive done a 5k launch twice when I first got it new...NEVER AGAIN! The smell alone made me wanna throw up. Plus, since I dont launch it, I'm almost at 20k miles on stock clutch with ZERO problems And I'm putting down almost 400hp...my .02 cents?.....don't launch it. And the weak link in the evo tranny is the clutch, if u get a beefy *** clutch, then your next weak link will be your TC, then your syncros...and so on...upgrade the whole drive train conservatively in my opinion. then again, I am a retard, although jesus loves me

^^yeah really.

and Its got 11k on it and it went. but since it was out of the 12 month part of the 12/12 they wouldnt touch it.... sorry bastards. That said I am the 3rd owner, I highly doubt the guy i bought it from abused it but I dont have a clue about the first owner. He might not have broken it in properly... who knows.

enough of the ranting back to teaching me the proper way to drive

Where in NC are you?

How many miles do you have on the ODO?

I'm at 22,600+ and zero problems with the clutch. You're welcome to observe my driving style...

(although I won't claim to be an expert)
