It puts load on the engine so that your at full boost when you launch
Well, usually not full boost, but maybe 10-13psi. Leaving the line with the power of 25psi is a great way to break things
BTW, a 2step creates a 'soft' rev limit by either cutting ignition or cutting fuel when the engine reaches a certain rpm. Ideally you want to cut both. Also, improper use is a good way to blow an engine. Be sure this is something you want to do.

yea its not really for a street car
However if you ever pull up next to someone and they start to rev on you and you hear the 2 step, you know that guy isnt messing around.

Yeah, most people don't know what it is though. I have used it a couple times on the street *gasp*, yes it's true. Usually people are like, "why does your car make that popping noise and smoke out the tailpipe like that?"

All a 2 step is, is the same thing the stock ECU does, when your car is not moving and you rev it up, the max it will go is to like4500 or 5000 whatever its set at, then as soon as the car moves it sets the rev limiter back to redline. its a very simple thing
And can anyone say if the DIS-2 can be used on the EVO? I had one on my Talon and the 2-step worked great on that; it made for consistent launches under boost! But I think I heard somewhere that the DIS-2 could not work on the Evolution 8 and was wondering why that was so.
So therefore, the 'generic 2-step', that is said that MSD makes, will it work on the Evolution, and if so whats the part # cause i'd be on it in a flash!
The T-Sport Flat Shift was discontinued by Tekniq because they were having problems with the manufacturer; something to do with parts!

Good luck finding one though, they went out of business. It's a shame because their products are great.
I got mine.

I'm glad you like it. Where'd ya get it from?

In these pics, look at the boost gauge (top one mounted on the windshield).
Here's what it looks like when the Flat Shift is off and you free rev the motor:

BTW, I don't know why I didn't map it out when I had it, but...
Since the company is now out of business, I guess I could build these things and sell them. However, I'd need to get my hands on one so that I could map it out. Anyone found one laying around that isn't in use?

I haven't put it in yet, believe it or not. I have the whole engine apart right now.
If you want it I can send it to you for a couple weeks.
Oh and I also noted that in the service manual that if you unplug the crank sensor the ECU will not fire the injectors. I may look into not messing with the injectors when I do install, it would make the install even easier.

Since I am in Italy now, it might take a while for me to get the thing, then find time to map it, then turn around and mail it back to ya. If time isn't a problem, I could definitely "borrow" it and then start building them for the people on here.
Just let me know what you want to do.
BTW, I finally found the instructions for the thing. I know you were looking for them a while back, but I can't remember if I emailed them to you or not. Right now I'm typing on a full stomach of beer.

I surely wouldn't recommend it on a car that still has a cat. converter. On a car with a straight 3 inch exhaust should shoot flames, though.
Even if I got it installed I can just pop out the unit itself and give you the schematic of the harness to the unit. Just get a hold of me when you are back in the states and I'll send it.
If I can get it installed and have the car running again I can verify that you only need one of control circuits for the crank sensor and don't need the one for the injectors.

Did I tell you that I'm buying an Evo 2 while I am over here?
I hate you.
I'd love to have one of the older models. Much more unique here in the states and I like all of the models.
When I get some time I will look at it to see if I can schematic it.
Oh and yeah I would like to get those original instructions from you. You can send them to silverevo@comcast.net
