Blow-off valve performance?

For those with aftermarket blow-off valves, i was wondering if they actually hurt performance at all (besides occasional stalling) such as excessive lag between shifts or anything like that.

Also, if you had problems, which BOV are you using and is it VTA or recirculating? Are you using a HKS EIDS?

Ive tried searching, but the threads that i found do not address this question.

Any help would be awesome!
Thanks in advance

If they are leaking boost, they will hurt performance. I am using the RRE GReddy Type-S Recirculating with the single spring mod, I had to crank it down a bit, but it works fine now

My stocker was leaking so my Forge valve didn't really give me more power, just gave me what I was suppose to have in the first place.

Silver Surfer did an excellent write up on this topic. Run a search using his screen name. I believe the name of the post is: Blow off valve testing, it really works.

i say...stick with the stock..even though it leaks...and get a new intake if you want a bigger "hiss" sound..and if you get an aftermarket bov....get a recirculating one...because stock is recirculating...and you dont want to vta..because the sensors will sense no air going through when it is released into atmosphere instead of going back into the intake.

thanks for the posts guys. Im starting to get an idea of what i want

.

Yeah, i want to just get one that will hold boost really good, i dont really care for the noise, i only would want it if some people said that going VTA with the HKS EIDS really helped them. Is yours stock, or do you have an aftermarket one?
