it's a lot darker than it's pictured by the way.

the second set of pictures with the flash on it is similar to the real color...

I thought white meant lean, but apparently it's not as it seems.

what's this I hear about how turbo cars, it's hard to tell how to read the spark plugs, because it's not at stoich level at wot?

need some sleep...

not sure one way or the other, but a good fuel burn should leave the same signs. by the way nobody shoots for 14.68 at wot.
what clouds the issue is the extra fuel the ecu feeds to cool the cylinder. so I would think a stock or vishnu tune would be more sooty than typical plug. you end up rich under boost as a safety issue.

you see as the car runs down through the lower load sites it goes way lean, Way Lean, 16, 17 that should clean the plug off so it would be very difficult, short of a dyno to get a good plug reading. but if you are on a dyno you should have lots of data anyway, so what's the point.
in short if you are really interested get a wideband o2 sensor to see where you are at. Inovate has a new gauge for those in the market.

I concur with your view. It does look lean, but there are many deposits scouring the electrode, and local areas. Fueling stations will vary fuels with different vendors as you can see. Where is the dept. of weights & measures< foer octane when you need them?

GET A TUNE, you are running VERY lean for pump gas, seriously. It is ok to run VERY LEAN right before spoolup, then you need to add fuel. Get a new flash, that one is dangerous.

by the way, i'm getting it tuned, so don't tell me the obvious.

I'm just trying to see what sorta discussion or tricks come up on reading and figuring out things for later.

In short, noone knows for sure, so far.

Yes, of course if I had an 02 sensor wideband that would be nice. Of course if I had the pocket logger that would be great.

Of course If I get flashed by someone who's done this for a while, that solves the problem.

And to answer my own question.

Yes I'm getting the PLX M300 wideband.

Yes I'm thinking about getting the pocketlogger. Which one though, the DSM one or OBD II?

Yes, I'm getting my ECU flashed by Al this weekend.

Yes, my fuel pump is coming this thursday.

Yes, my intake is here tomorrow.

Yes, I might sell my SAFC II I just got! don't see a point of having one anymore (i wont put race gas in my car).

and No, I don't know what that damn plug is telling me, and I'm paranoid because my a/f is super lean and my knock sensor in SAFC is POS.

whew....

This is what happens when you get 3 hours of sleep and work nights.

I am telling you it's the pump crapping out.
Al probably would be able to do much with it as it is. With the pump he'll be able to tune it.

12 point something is the normal wot afr
cruise, ie low load hiway can go all the way to 15 buy that changes fast as you apply more throttle.
14.7 is considered the enviroly correct number. ie all the O and all the fuel are suppost to burn under perfect conditions. when you are after POWER people add more fuel so all the O gets mated to fuel, (things are never perfect condition)after you get below high 11s you are throwing fuel away. evos use that extra fuel to cool the combustion chamber, and slow the burn, equals less knock..
