Difference in EVO Turbos 2005 V.S. 2006
LOL If I had turbo envy, I'd be swingin off the nards of a much larger turbo..
Anyway, I doubt the net gain will be much more than what we already have, the truth is we're still finding the limits of the stock turbo and its variants, and I'm sure you'll start seeing more numbers with new variants and of course, more R&D.
What I do think the new turbo should be capable of, is sustaining more boost through a higher RPM, which means you can have your torque curve extended further up the power band. I think its worth a few horsepower, but I think there are other things that will gain more power.. but its all about combination, but my first priority has always been drivability and servicability, I'm willing to trade off big HP numbers for that.

If the comp wheel is truly the same with just a larger comp housing, the mass flow rate shouldn't change at all, but the efficiency of the turbo should be a little better and like Malibu said, may sustain boost better at higher RPM or at least move some power towards the top end. Trade-off in lag? If it shows up in the States without the lightened rotating assembly as an OEM piece, I would be somewhat surprised, unless they're counting on MIVEC to help spool.
I dunno. I saw the comparo pics and something about the comp inducer on the IX looks smaller than VIII 16G. It might just be an illusion, but I guess we'll all find out when they get here
The IX housing looks almost TD06 sized, but it's kinda hard to tell from a pic.
