I'm not trying to crash this thread but does anyone have a simple tutorial on changing the fluids in the TRANSFER CASE and the TRANNY?????

Please help because I don't want to have to pay Mitsubishi to do this ever again. They are a huge ripp-off....

Thanks GUYS

Transfer case

Mobil 1 has a heavy gear oil for the transfer case and rear gears.
Auto Zone is a good outlet for the fluids. I bought my synchromesh
(tranny fluid only)there.
Sounds like Penzoil synch is the way to go from what I,m reading.

Look in the "How To/Installations" section of the forum, there is a wealth of information there.

Just changed the tranny w/ Pennzoil Syncromesh and the transfer case/rear diff. w/ Mobil Synthetic Gear oil and the shifting is much smoother. Car had 16,xxx miles on stock fluid and all the drain plugs had filings on them. Oil was also pretty dark. After change shifted like butter, also running short throw and engine damper, which helps even more.

I spoke to Jon also about the fluids and he also recomended it, and it helps alot for high rpm shifting for those of you who like to race, specially from 1st to 2nd that most here get the occasional grind. I trust Jon about this so i switched to it. Just make sure you do it every 5k miles.

The 5000 mile thing is just a suggestion.

If you drive nice and easy and never shift fast you can probably go further.

However if you are running the dog sheet out of it on a road course or shifting like a wild man you may want to change it sooner.
