Which performs worse: RFL or SSQ?
Which performs worse: RFL or SSQ?
Wondering which 1 of these VTA bov's run WORSE. I've only ran the HKS SSQ and all ic an say is- BOG BOG BOG BOG to the extreme, stalling out issues at times, and plenty of idle dropping. Please dont give me that "its dumb to run VTA with stock map", i already know the deal and am running a MR DV.
i have heard more people complain about the HKS unit then the RFL simply cuz more people by HKS items than Turbo XS items. my RFL works fine even w/out the install kit as i salvaged it from my 98 Talon. i just used a 1 1/4" PVC endcap on the intake tube & i run all 6 washers. no issues.
The HKS does run pretty poorly in VTA, its a little better with recirculation.. But it holds boost really well, better than anything else I've tried.. the problem is drivability with the stock MAF.. You definitely need to have some way of removing the stock MAF to prevent the issues with stalling or just bogging, but if you can work around it, its a worthwhile setup once its adjusted...
the RFL is another one that needs adjustment, but works pretty well, but just like any aftermarket BOV, most of these will cause compressor surge if you increase the spring pressure enough to prevent stalling when recirculating..
The stock DV, the MR DV, and the 1G DSM DV all have one thing in common, they seem to be partially open at idle, and open easily on shifts, which makes for very little compressor surge and good drivability. Even though I have the HKS-SSQV and it works well for me, it took awhile to get right even though I don't have a stock MAF, it took trial and error to get the settings right to eliminate compressor surge.
