Help. Overheating
I think that my car is overheating.
Last week I went to Mitsubishi dealer and had my cat back exhaust installed and the coolant liquid replaced.
When coming back to my home I noticed that the engine fan stayed working, much more time than the habitual.
After more or less three days I noticed that the liquid inside radiator reservoir lowered some inchs, so I put more water. I thought that could be air in the system. More three days and the liquid inside radiator reservoir lowered some inchs again. Total of water I put = 700ml. Now it seems that the water doesn't lower anymore, but damn the engine fan stays working too much time.
Even driving around 30mph the engine fan stays working
I really do not know what can be the culprit.
Maybe a bad work on the coolant replacement
Maybe some sensor
Maybe the cat back is turning the A/F ratio too much lean.
Any ideas?

Don't know about the fan, but I've noticed that when my car is completely cool the coolant reservoir level can be at the max line or even down towards the min line. (This is in the morning before starting the car for the day.) I've tried adding some coolant and I think it just came out of the overflow hose. What does your water temp gauge read? Is it slightly below the middle mark at all times after warm-up? I think you may have a problem with the fan but your coolant level should be allright. Also if you're in a hot climate area maybe your fan should run more than usual. I don't know for sure though.
^ I know for a fact its for 03's, might be for 04's and 5 too. most likely its your fan causing you to overheat. Because when you drive at say 60 miles an hour and your giving the car a decent load, air coming into the radiartor at 60 is much more effective that the fan. But when your fan is on, and your at 60, it creates drag, and almost no air can get in to cool the car off. This is the reason why there is a recall for the fan module. Same thing happened to my buddys mustang last summer, he has alot of power... his dan is controlled by a switch, cruising down the highway, forgot to turn the fan off, car overheated.
its for the 03's only, they prolly did the fix and didnt tell you because the fan is suppose to turn on and off annoyingly all the time. Even when your car is warming up, weird but thats what mitsu told me.

it could be your head gasket leaking coolant, check it make sure it is sealed, Some of the 05s have torque bolts where after the bolts to the head are torqued they need turned again 90 degrees, I'm not sure if this applies for 03 or 04s but i would ask the techinician at the dealership.
I just noticed today that the temperature guage was all the way to high. I checked the engine but doesnt feel like its overheating. I checked the oil and noticed that its over the recommended limit. And Mitsubishi did the oil change less than a month ago. I will let it sit for a while and then checked the oil again. Any idea what the problem is?

I did my oil change at Mitsubishi and it is over the high limit too. Would this situation raise the temperature?

Normally the fan kicks in at 190F and then turns back off again at 185F. If I am idling after a normal drive it usually only stays on for 30 sec before dropping the temperature down to 185F with about 60F ambient temps. I would imagine that the fans will still kick in at some point while crusing if your temps are still climbing. I've never heard of a fan reducing the efficiency of a radiator even at speed but I guess if the fan isn't a good design that may be possible. When AC is on most cars will kick on fans earlier and at higher fan speeds to keep the car's cooling system in check.
