Flex Section For Downpipe?

Would you get a DP w/no flex section? Any non-flex-section casualties out there on their Evo???

Thanks.

everyone worries too much. it's just a pipe. engine does torque on evo's but it doesn't torque like srt-4 motors.

don't worry, be happy.

I know they'd snap on the other DSMs... I was SUPPOSED to receive a part w/flex section but didn't and want to be DONE with this vendor. If I ship it back I know I won't see the part for six more weeks...

Just looking for anyone with experience and/or insight - THANKS!

A couple hours at Nelson Ledges Road Course didn't cause any problems with my Buschur TBE. I was a little concerned but there are a lot of hard downpipes running a lot of hard 1/4 miles and they seem to survive.

i have the helix dp and it has no flex section. I would imagine if the dp is designed correctly it isnt necessary, my helix works flawlessly and its a full 3" with no flex. As mentioned above, the engine doesnt move enough to worry. The dp hangers will be sufficient enough to soak up minor movement.

I have no flex in my downpipe and have not had any problems at all. I would not think twice about running one with out flex.

7 years and running with no flex section on my Eclipse. I just installed a full turbo back Buschur exhaust with no flex, you'll be fine. If you are really worried get stiffer engine mounts which will increase vibration but the engine won't move at all.

also... on evos there is the donut gasket spring bolt combo that keeps things from leaking and absorbs some of the engine torqueing.

Don't most aftermarket downpipes do away with that? Or is it just the Buschur?

uhm... most aftermarket pipes shouldn't... but then again i'm not sure... in any case... how would you seal the o2 to dp connection... a 3" gasket isn't gonna cover the o2 outlet issit?

although i do realize that buschur uses normal bolts to hook up to the o2 housing...
