You don't really need the tool if you are taking the belt off.
You can push the tensioner back in with a vise. See the service manual.

Also, if you loosen the tensioner pulley then you really need the tensioner pulley tool.

thx guys...

I ended up finding the tensioner tool at RRE for $15.

is it necessary to get new belts? The car has less than 5k miles on it (although they are hard miles).
