I know I dont need to pull the head to put on the head studs, but, I'd rather do it right and take the head off and make sure there is no crap/oil in the holes, make sure the studs seat well.

regarding compression.. this is why I asked for suggestions on head gaskets... go with stock or go with thicker aftermarket version?

right now I need a proven formula, the car gets driven hard at the track so it needs to take constant abuse. I need security/cheap insurance.

car will probably be down for weeks either way.

help!

Don't change the head gasket. No need. The stock one works great. With new head studs ur set untill you do head work or build the bottom end.

If ur gonna pull the head to tap out the stud holes anyway, u might as well replace the head gasket. I thought u were just pulling the head to replace the head gasket. If ur gonna replace it get the OEM one, it works great for pretty decent power.

U should get a belt tension tool. I don't think auto zone or any parts store carry them for the 4g63. I know OTC carries them and AMS does but they are back ordered
