Boost Leak Test Question

There is a local shop that has a machine that is designed to test for boost leaks. It makes 'smoke', therefore, making it a lot easier to spot the leak.

However, it only produces over 1psi of pressure. So my question is; would 1 psi be enough to spot a boost leak, or do i need to make my own and push 20 psi through to find the leaks?

Thanks

20-24psi would be real nice. You wouldn't be able to see anything with 1 psi.

The smoke idea is but I doubt you will see anything at 1psi.

How are you guys able to get 20-24 psi? Mines went to at most 15 psi and started to leak down. Did you cap the upper intercooler pipe? Was the engine at TDC?

I got mine up to 20 psi, but I had to cap all sorts of stuff off. I tested with the IC pipes on the throttle body and found some tiny leaks. Then I capped the IC pipe at the throttle body and the BOV and tested from the compressor.

1 psi is worthless.
