ATS Tripple Carbon prob!

Had an HKS GD MAX and had no probs then changed to the ATS tripple carbon and have developed a problem. Car stationary, clutch depressed, bring up the revs and the car starts to creep at about 5000rpm. As you increase from there the car creeping gets way worse! Seems that it is not dis-engaging enough. ALL ADJUSTMENTS have been tried but prob still remains. Car drives fine otherwise
Any suggestions as to the problem

Mark

I have the same issue. I called ATS and they said it shouldn't happen if the clutch is adjusted correctly. I have yet to cure it. I helped it a little by adjusting most of the slack out of the bracket.

you have to sit there and slip the hell out of the clutch, if it's carbon carbon carbon.

you need to heat that up good before you run.

otherwise, you may have burnt out your clutch?

did you adjust the master cylinder as well?

are you in even ground?

what are you lowered on? your forward momentum should be checked.

g meter is the best way to check this.

Theres another thread out there on this exact problem. Turned out the guy warped the intermediate plates during first visit to the track. he never gave the clutch a proper breakin though.

I have the ATS triple and do not have this porblem.

It's a noisey SOB! When it comes time to change clutch's I'll probably switch out from the ATS. Reson being I think it's more of a racing clutch than a street / strip clutch. We should probably be tearing it apart after every year inspecting and replacing parts. Too much of a hassel if you ask me. I'll be going for the exedy double carbon next. Al run's 10's and now 9's on that clutch.

Maaan that sucks the big one
Yasu at ATS said that I should check out my master cylinder since the car is an '01.
I'm totally pissed
So for now I guess its; hand brake up at the tree

^^oooo i ust realized u have an evo 7...
okay well from what i know ATS makes a evo 8 clutch setup.

I was told that the evo 8 system could work on the evo 7 providing that you use the evo 8 clutch evo 8 pressureplate and evo 8 flywheel.

so i went ahead and did this. It worked fine for a couple months but then i got the same problem as you. I had the evo 8 act clutch, act pressure plate and fidanza flywheel. It never lasted.

Had the same problem as you..at the line i would redlight because the car moved foward with high revs.
Then someone else toldme that the evo 8 clutches are different in size....and that i should only use evo 7 parts in my box. Like everything evo 7..evo 7 clutch,evo7 pplate and evo 7 flywheel.

First off - Exedy does NOT make this clutch for ATS... however, to try and help your situation...

Have you changed the actuation system from Pull to Push?

If you have, *make you the system is bled throughly* - NO AIR in hydraulic lines at all.

When installing the clutch, did the gear box go in smoothly? Burrs on the spline is a major cause of imporper disengagement aka "Clutch Drag".

All else fails - use a clutch that is pruven such as an Exedy Triple Carbon...

Honestly tho - The ATS is generally a pretty decent piece, even though they are our competition....

Good Luck.

Make sure there is a 3mm gap between the clutch fork and the adapter that converts it to a push style. Second I would check the slave cylinder/master cylinder. Have a buddy hold down on the clutch pedal and watch to see if the fork creeps back with the pedal held down, if it does then you know you have a hydraulic problem.
