All 05's have the ACD, not just the MR

 

So just to clarify, Cusco makes an upgraded ACD differential. We're not talking about the ECU, correct?

Also, can you provide a link to the Cusco ACD unit? I can only find their front and rear diffs. Thanks.

 

Somehow i'm a little sceptical of Cusco making a new ACD.

Because you're talking about something that uses pretty sophisticated hydrualics and probably took mitsubishi a while and tons of money to make. And to to think of Cusco making a new replacement for it seems a little far fetched.

But hey if they did then i'd be impressed.

We all know that a factory drivetrain can take only so much power; thus the aftermarket world!
Ralliart, Tomie, ATS, HKS KANSAI, and CUSCO ALL MAKE upgraded components beit front center or rear........... nothing new here.
I'm just interested in the ACD that is offered by CUSCO cause I have seen it work!
Its just that it is hard to source if you don't speak japanese

Hey smart guy, your facts are wrong because apparantly not even you can find this mythical Cusco ACD. Try again.

 

OK - here is the deal.

1. front LSD - Cusco does not make a front LSD that will drop into a US Spec '03/'04 Evo - yes they make front LSD's, but much like the helical one we offer from Ralliart/Mitsubishi, it's not a direct drop in. A competant installer can work around the issues easily though. I know the 03/04 Evo uses a x fer case that is unique to the US market - it is not a x fer case shared with any other Evo (prior) that I know of, which is why there is the compatibility issue with the LSD's. I don't know enough about the MR to know if this trend continues. I can easily find out - just need the part #'s of an MR x fer case, and preferably an '05 RS and '05 GSR as well.

2. Cusco does not make an ACD replacement diff. by itself. They make front diffs that are compatible with ACD equipped cars and they make several combination diffs (includes front and center diffs) for ACD equipped cars. The center diff is not something they sell seperately however - it can only be purchased as part of a combo with the front LSD. In looking over the info I have here, it seems this is something they only make for the Evo VII - I see no mention of the VIII, though I am home and only have he '04 Master Catalog here with me...the '05 book is in the office. Cusco also makes rear diffs that are compatible with AYC equipped cars.

vishnu has a cusco center differential in their race evo that splits power 30/70 not 50/50 like the stock does, but i don't know how they got it to fit in the t/c

I was under the impression that the transfer case housed both the center and front diffs.

What is the issue that can be worked around exactly? I thought the diff itself inside the housings could be swapped around to just about any X case. Road Race states their quaife will back date to any evo4-8. If that is the case then any helical or ralliart diff should fit the Us cars?

 

Mabbe they swapped in a gearbox and transfer case off a JDM car and run the Cusco Tarmac Gear centre differential which splits the power 30/70 as you mentioned. Would be a pretty easy way out wouldn't it?
