minimal 05 EVO 8 mods needed to beat 300WHP SRT4???

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

I have been lurking the EVO forums for like 2 years now, and i currently drive an 04 SRT4 which probably makes 270-290 WHP. i got this car cuz I couldnt afford the EVO at the time, but now I have a better job paying $40K+ annually, plus I found a buyer to pay me $18K for my SRT4.

I'll get to the point what are the minimal mods needed to beat my current car?

i know my first power mods to my EVO will be a 3" TBE, no cat and I'll be transferring over my HKS EVC 5 EBC to the EVO....
what else do I need to beat a 300 WHP SRT4 in a highway race?

Try to upgrade the ecu before putting to much other mods first.

just curious, what mods do you currently have on your current car?, also you wouldn't need any mods on an evo cause they go about 160 out the box.

I have all the basic boltons......TBE, intake, piggyback ECU, mopar stage 1, Greddy TypeS, upgraded intercooler piping, intercooler upgrade, motor mounts...etc....

car should trap around 107 MPH in the 1/4 mile

I can vouch for you fella, I have a friend on SRT forums, Cfree. He has a catless TBE, FMIC, CAI, AGP waste gate actuator, MBC, S-AFC and he beat an STi at the track, the STi ran a 13.6 and he ran a 13.3 with those mods, it shouldnt take a thing to beat it at the track but in the 1/4 I would suggest a TBE, HKS RS intake, flash, HKS 272 cams, mbc, SAFC and you should be night and day against any 300whp SRT.

in fact u may even be able to leave out the injectors as the stockers are quite good for close to 400whp

Most of these answers are too extreme. With an _05_, you only need a Flash+Exhaust to be at or above 300whp. My time below is just with an S-AFC and filter. Peteyturbo went 12.6@108 with just a test pipe and flash. Another guy went 112mph with just a TBE, S-AFC, and filter, but on race gas. With your EBC and TBE, you will already be capable of 300whp, but without a tuning device (AFC or flash), you may not run optimally, so I would suggest one of the two immediately.

So, with TBE, flash/safc, EBC (@21psi on 93oct), panel filter, fuel pump, and JDM MR BOV, you should be over 300whp easily and able to run 110mph traps, if not more. This should beat the 280whp neon on the highway, despite the drivetrain/weight differences.

I was able to get just over 300 whp on tbe, mbc, fuel pump, and dynoflash. Throw cams and intake in there and it won't even be close.

Basically you don't need really that much, some sort of of ECU tuning (Flash, Piggyback, or Stand Alone), Turboback, and MBC. It all depends on how stong your EVO is to begin with, but to trap 107MPH is not really difficult in an EVO.

thanks guys.... I know that when I sell my SRT4 and move up to the 05 EVO 8 I need to be sure that the EVO will be quicker than my old SRT4.....

and I need to do it on a budget also.

I may have to look at the "Parts for sale section" and see what used parts I can buy at a discount.
